Erin Harmon is a visual artist who lives and works in Memphis. She was raised in the suburbs of southern California and received her BA in Studio Art from San Diego State University before moving on to earn her MFA in Painting from Rhode Island School of Design. Harmon is an Associate Professor of Art at Rhodes College, and has received commissions from the Women’s Foundation of Greater Memphis, Memphis in May, and Ballet Memphis. Her ambiguous collages can be both animated and arresting, joyful and staid, nostalgic and strange. Harmon says her work “dwells in the twilight zone between painting and sculpture,” creating an “alternate dimension where time is suspended.”
